Xfinity (Comcast) Constant Guard may block CompuHost from launching
Solution

If you are using Xfinity (Comcast) for your internet service, a Windows application called Xfinity Constant Guard is likely to be installed.

Xfinity Constant Guard may mistakenly flag important CompuHost support files as malicious (commonly referred to as a "false positive"), thus preventing CompuHost from launching.

To solve this problem, you'll need to add compuhost.exe, as well as ALL necessary support files (DLL's) to the list of Allowed programs in Xfinity Constant Guard.

Files reported as possibly being blocked by Xfinity Constant Guard include...

compuhost.exe

keybd.dll

Method 1 -  Log in to Xfinity Constant Guard, then search for and "allow" ALL necessary CompuHost files. (See above for effected files)

Xfinity installs a Constant Guard Protection Suite on Windows PCs using Xfinity internet service.

If you launch Constant Guard Protection Suite, it will ask you to log in.  After you do, you will see this window:

Under Additional Options, select Manage my "Blocked Program" rules.

Constant Guard will display a window that allows you to Manage "Blocked Program" Rules

Search for "compuhost.exe" and "keybd.dll", and if either are found in the list set them to "Allow"

A window will come up that says "Please Confirm.  Are you sure you want to unblock the programs you selected?"  Press "Yes".

Finally, press "Done" at the bottom of the  Manage "Blocked Program" Rules window.

After you finish this process, you should be able to launch CompuHost as expected.

Method 2 -  Respond to "Constant Guard...  has automatically blocked an unsafe program" message

Xfinity installs a Constant Guard Protection Suite on Windows PCs using Xfinity internet service.

Constant Guard Protection Suite will block new programs that you launch, under the assumption that they might be unsafe.

When you first launch CompuHost, you may see this message on the bottom right corner of your display:  "Constant Guard Protection Suite has automatically blocked an unsafe program.  Learn More."

Click Learn More in order to start the process of allowing CompuHost to launch.

Enter your Xfinity Master PIN in the window that asks for it, then press OK.

After you enter your PIN, Constant Guard will display a window that allows you to Manage "Blocked Program" Rules

Search for "compuhost.exe" and "keybd.dll", and if either are found in the list set them to "Allow".
